Location and Directions: Crookwath Cottage is exactly halfway between Keswick and Penrith with easy access to Ullswater, (5 Mins) Patterdale, (10 Mins) Keswick. (15 Mins) Directions to Crookwath Cottage: From the Penrith M6 roundabout - take the A66 towards Keswick. After approximately eight miles look out for sign to A5091 Ullswater/Dockray/Troutbeck. Turn Left. Follow road for approximately two miles as it rises up a hill, just over the brow of hill. Turn right, signpost ‘Dowthwaitehead’. This is a single-track road with a coniferous wood on the right. Follow for approximately two miles and go past a turning to the left signposted ‘Dockray’. After 200 meters the road forks. (there’s a castellated Water Works building in the fork) Take the left fork. Crookwath Cottage is at the bottom of the hill on the right. Cottage: Large homely kitchen, the heart of the cottage with sofa and Aga. Traditional cottage sitting room with open fire. Central heating throughout.& dining area. 3 Bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. All with stunning Views across the fells. Additional information: Upstairs: Bedroom 1: double bed, fitted cupboards, en-suite bath / basin and toilet and views up towards Great Dodd. Bedroom 2: twin beds, fitted cupboards, dressing table. Bedroom 3: king-size double bed fitted cupboards and dressing table. 2nd bathroom, shower/bath, basin and toilet. Downstairs: The Large sitting room and dining area dates back to the 17th century it oozes character, charm and warmth. With a traditional range used until the 1950’s for cooking, boiling the water and heating the bread oven. There is Sky TV, video and stereo radio, and books and games. Traditional open coal burning range, with two sofas and two armchairs. Stunning views from all windows of Matterdale/Watermillock Fells Kitchen: The hub of the cottage with its Aga and refectory table and sofa. Fitted with all mod cons, fridge, washing machine, and micro wave. Views out over Birkett Fell and Stybarrow Dodd. Porch to garden. Facilities: Linen provided free of charge. Crookwath Cottage is let as holiday accommodation on a weekly basis. We will look forward to welcoming you between 4 pm-5pm on the day of your arrival and we ask you to leave by 10am on the day of your departure. 3. In case of emergency we reserve the right of access to the cottage at any time during the letting period. 4. We will be pleased to confirm your booking in writing once we have received a completed booking form and deposit for one third of the total cost. Should you cancel for any reason the deposit may be forfeited if we cannot relet the cottage. 5. We ask you to pay the balance 4 weeks before arrival date plus the £50 Housekeeping Bond; otherwise we reserve the right to relet your week(s). 6. The cottage may not be sublet, nor should the number of persons in occupation exceed 6 7. We will be grateful if you can leave the cottage as clean and tidy as possible.
