We will hold these dates up to 7 days whilst we await the completed Booking Form with the deposit or full payment from you (if your holiday is within 6 weeks of booking).

We will confirm your holiday booking by email once we have received your cheque. Cheques to RW & GS Farncombe.

The final balance for your holiday is due 6 weeks prior to the start date of your holiday.

In addition to your final balance, we ask for a returnable £100.00 good housekeeping cheque in the unlikely event of damage to the property, this will be returned to you the week after your departure date.

Eating Out:
Your nearest pub is the Royal Hotel in the village, a couple of minutes in the car, or a 15-20 min walk across the fields on the footpath and down the road. Tel: +44 (0)17684-82356.

Good food at the Mill Inn, Mungrisedale. Main courses £7.00-£9.00. About 10 mins in the car. Best to book ahead here. Tel: +44 (0)1768 779632.

Excellent food at the Horse & Farrier, Threlkeld. Main courses £8.00-£12.00. About 10 mins in the car. Essential to book ahead. Tel: +44 (0)1768 779688.

The Brackenrigg Inn, Watermillock. Overlooks Ullswater, great views! Good food and local beers. Again best to book. Tel: +44 (0)1768 486206.

Sharrow Bay Hotel. If you are feeling generous, and want to splash out then you are only a stones throw away from one of the countries top hotels and restaurant, the famous Sharrow Bay. Bookings essential. Tel: +44 (0)1768 486301.

Garden:
Please enjoy the walks and benches above the cottage and the veranda of the hut. The garden in front below the cottage is private. You have use of barn for BBQ’s and an outside open fire down there. Enjoy our 25 Acre woodland, find 12 seats dotted around it! Walk the spiral!

Television:
We have Sky TV. Always turn the telly on with its button. Then use the sky remote. Press the top right black button twice pointing it at the digibox below the telly. (Make sure the doors are open) You should now be on Sky.Press 998 on the remote and this will tell you about how to use Sky TV. We get BBC1, BBC2, Channel 4 and Channel5. Once you are on Sky – use the blue button to scroll through channels and when you see something that you like: press "select".
Please don’t touch or remove the digibox card.
Always switch off at the TV.

Music Center:
Use remote, instruction book under unit.

Mobile Phones:
There is good Vodophone reception here at Crookwath Cottage a new mast has recently gone up.  Orange is intermittent and you have to go up the hill to our chicken hut to receive texts - no yoke!

Food:
Supermarkets. Equidistant from Penrith (Morrison’s, Co-op, Aldi) and Keswick (Booths, Co-op) Every other shop in Keswick sells outdoor gear!

Septic Tank:
We have a very old septic tank system.Do NOT flush sanitary ware, nappies/liners etc down the loo.
Use bins and bags provided. Otherwise system WILL Block up and ruin your holiday.
Only use our household detergents, provided free. These keep the tank’s bacteria alive!

Refuse:
If you wish to recycle refuse then use the bins as marked and we will dispose of it at the end of your stay with us.
We do not have a refuse collection here, as lane is too steep and narrow, so we use a wheelie bin at the top of the hill just past the 1st house on the right.

Sitting Room Fire:
We supply kiln dried wood for the wood burner. Once alight please keep both doors closed.Take care when opening and closing the glass door - close gently to avoid breaking the glass. Leave the ash and we will empty this at the end of your stay.

Heating:
If you are cold press the top left button of the white control box on the wall beside the Aga, this will give you one hour’s heat. It is timed so that it will come on early morning and again in the evening. Press button again for more heat. Please switch heating off by 10:30 as we sleep above boiler!

AGA:
Please do NOT touch or open the control panel.
Any change to the temperature is dangerous and will cause the water to boil.

Hot water: [!!!!warning!!!!]
Be careful, the hot water can be extremely hot! The Aga does all the hot water for you. If you need more hot water, press the top right button of the heating control panel.

Tumble Dryer:
Place tube out of the window when using drying machine.
Let the drier finish its cycle even if clothes are dry as it cools itself down at the end of the cycle.

Dish Washer:
Use Powder blocks provided under sink, place 1 in the left-hand section of the dispenser on the door.

Car Parking:
There is off road car parking for up 3 cars.

Stop Cock:
It’s below the sink in the Kitchen.
